The Board of Directors at Liberty Common School is comprised of seven members elected from the parent community, and operates as prescribed by Section 2 of the school’s Policy Manual.

Parents seeking candidacy must also secure a recommendation from the headmaster, who verifies the candidate’s prerequisite qualifications, and establishes the candidate’s alignment with the school’s philosophical mission. Candidates seeking to undermine the philosophy and mission of the school do not earn a headmaster recommendation, disqualifying their candidacy.
When governing, the Liberty Common BOD is informed by the charter between Liberty Common and its authorizer, which prescribes many of the school’s operational obligations. Equally as considerable, board members are beholden to the school’s mission statement and founding philosophy; they define the strategic vision that informs the projects and tactics necessary for mission fidelity.
Advisory Committees—The primary purpose of advisory committees to the BOD is to contribute to the educational program of the school by conducting studies, identifying problems, or developing recommendations to assist the board in making decisions. The ultimate authority to make those decisions remains with the board of directors as required by law.
Members of advisory committees are selected from among those who have shown an interest in sustaining the school’s mission and have special knowledge or expertise relating to the committee’s purpose. advisory committee will report periodically to the board.
